Grammy Fashion Recap

Last nights 52nd Grammy Awards ceremony brought out the best and the brightest in the industry. Entertainers of all types, kinds and magnitudes came out to celebrate music and the industry’s key players. While the purpose for attending was one in the same, the choices in fashion varied just as heavily as the music.

Every award show is broken up into two completely different events; Red Carpet Attire and Performance Attire. Designers including Armani Prive, Stéphane Rolland, Dolce & Gabanna, Givenchy, Versace and Gucci graced both events, but not all of the looks were the best representations. As far as the Grammy’s Red Carpet is concerned, there were some good, fewer great and some that just completely missed the mark. The best dressed has to go to Keri Hilson, who was finally age appropriate, elegant and classic. Joining her is Carrie Underwood, who was stunning throughout the entire evening. As usual, the men played it safe but a few stood out including Wyclef Jean, Usher, Adam Lambert and singer/songwriter Calvin Richardson.

Falling into the category of worst dressed are Ciara, Britney Spears, TV personality Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and as usual, Imogen Heap. Joining them are T-Pain, Travis Barker and LMFAO. Shame. Lady Gaga’s unique perspective on art (and how it relates to fashion) is in a world of its own. We will even settle with the odd shapes and hand held pieces if she would give us a more identifiable hair color.

For performance attire our best dressed has to be a tie between Pink’s Heavenly hood and trapeze ensemble, Carrie Underwoods gorgeous gold number, and Beyoncé’s textile ensemble, which Rihanna made fierce in her September 2009 Vogue Italia spread. However, our worst dressed performance attire was owned completely by The Black Eyed Peas. Musically, some would argue that The Black Eyed Peas can do no wrong, but they are certainly fashionably questionable. A close second to their futuristic failure, was Jamie Foxx’s captain costume. These attempts at fashion individualism we clearly In Vain.

Everyone else at the Grammy’s fall into the categories of good or not so bad. Check out some of their other winners, presenters and attendees below.

I liked Mary J Blige’s dress. I did not like Rhinna’s dress. It was too old for her. Glad she didn’t wear that other stuff she wear, however. PINK WAS BEST!
