With Asian Warriors as an inspiration there was no wonder Monique Lhuillier had to steer slightly away from her traditionally elegant designs and into deeper palettes and stronger lines. Vibrant reds, rich gold’s, and deep burgundy’s brought immediate attention to the collection of of party dresses, work appropriate pieces, and gowns. Intricate textures, deep patterns, pleats, and high amounts of details -especially around the shoulders-gave a look of protective elegant armor while shorter hemlines helped make the pieces playful and young.
We will definitely see a couple of these gowns at this year’s Academy awards. Options for high profiled celebrities will most certainly include the gold strapless gown with rose prints and a glamorous front pick up. Another is the simple strapless burgundy pleated gown that will be perfect for any red head. And last but not least the red strapless gown that’s fitted to the body with rouching that turns into 3- dimensional roses that increase in size as the eye travels down. The workmanship on the finally dress was breath taking and speaks volumes of Lhuillier’s talent. (images courtesy of Countess/Concordia for Wire Image)
